We are so happy you are here to join us on this adventure!
Lots of kids struggle with reading, and we are here to help solve the problems that can come up, that keep kids believing in themselves.
Kermit is a great teacher and he is going to teach you all your letter sounds. He loves to eat them up and get you to try and guess the sound they make when they are in his throat. He's so funny!

In this class, we focus on the beginning stages of learning to read. Students will be introduced to the essential components of reading, which will lay a solid foundation for their future literacy skills.
The primary goal is to equip learners with the knowledge and techniques necessary to recognize letters, understand their sounds, and start blending these sounds to form words. By the end of the course, students will have a basic grasp of reading words with short vowels and knowledge of how to master irregular words.
WHAT YOUR CHILD WILL LEARN:
Letter Identification: Students will learn to recognize, print and name the sounds of all the letters of the alphabet, both uppercase and lowercase using multi sensory activities and songs for memory retention. We will also explore the unique shapes and sounds associated with each letter, emphasizing visual and auditory recognition.
Phonemic awareness exercises, helping students understand how to blend individual sounds to form words. This will include fun and interactive activities that make the concept of blending both clear and enjoyable.
Reading Words with Short Vowels: The class will cover the sounds of short vowels (a, e, i, o, u) and practice reading simple CVC (consonant-vowel-consonant) words.
Introduction to Heart Words: Students will be shown how to decode and learn by heart the tricky parts of irregular word so these words become easy and automatic to read, by incorporating songs and phonetic rules for mastery.
Hands on tools, music, puppets, decoders and games are incorporated to help students gain confidence in their reading abilities and keep them engaged.

*Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard tools of what we will provide.
*Resources: There will be decoders and games provided to print, this will help your child master everything learned throughout the week
Material list: Learners are responsible for having the listed materials on hand and printed materials ready. If learners are missing materials, alternative suggestions can be provided. Classes will typically require commonly found household items or stationary such as: paper, pencil, eraser, highlighter, dry erase board and dry erase marker.
